The Green House clinched the overall championship

The 17th Annual Sports Day at Everwin Matriculation Higher Secondary School , Kolathur had a colourful start in the year 2010-2011 with dazzling and daredevil display of sports exercises and drill displays by the students.

Miss G Gayathri, India's No 1 athlete in Hurdles and winner of Gold medal in the south Asian Games in Dhaka last month inaugurated the events at the school playgrounds.

Speaking at the event Ms Gayathri said parents' motivation was the vital factor responsible for her success in sports. "Get the green signal from parents; Believe in your coach and work hard day in and day out and you can emerge triumphant in this field" she added.

Recalling her school days, Ms Gayathri said though her school did not initiate special steps to identify her sports interest, she was always proud of her school. "Similarly, you may grow on your own on areas of special interest to you but be thankful to your parents and teachers till the end. Never say all credit goes to you" the 19 year old athlete advised the dtudents.

Appreciating the Everwin management for its efforts in identifying the sports talent among the students, Gayathri was pleasantly surprised at the two-acre campus of the school. "You have mammoth area for sports; the students are really lucky" she said.

School CEO V. Mageswari, Principal B. Purushothaman, Senior Vice Principal M Kalaiarasi and others were also present.
