Bringing the creative and artistic skills
of the students to the fore, students of Everwin Matriculation Higher Secondary School came out
with a mega painting of ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu.
(a) Spread over a sprawling 22,000 sq ft at their playgrounds recently. About 300 ninth standard to 12th standard students of the school toiled for ten hours to complete the mammoth task ofpainting "Dasavathar" (Ten avatars.
(b) School Correspondent B. Purushothaman said over 7,200 kgs of colour powders were used to paint the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu.
(c) The ten hour long feat, which began yesterday, ended thismorning after a break in the night.
(d) It was a colourful view as the canvas was so big that parents,who had thronged the school, were glued to the paintings.
(e) The story of each of the ten avatars was also narrated toonlookers by the students.
(f) The main aim of the event was to send a message to thestudent community that ''one cannot escape punishment fortheir wrong doings.''
(g) He said at a time when the youth were becoming more vulnerable to wrong doings and considering that such acts had been on the increase, the theme of the event was aptly kept as "Every wrong act awaits punishment".
(h) ''Basically we want to instil a sense of fear in the young minds and drive home the point of being good and doing goodto others,'' Mr Purushothaman said.
(i) The high point of the function was ten students were made up as ten avatars of Vishnu and 100 LKG and UKG kids as Lord Sri Krishna participated in a fancy dress competition.
(j) A mega expo, displaying each of the ten avatars along with the story going with it, was also organised as part of the celebrations.
(k) The students also took a pledge ''not to commit any wrong doing.''
Certificates and prizes were given to the students on the occasion.
