This Children's day will be etched in the
minds of the students of Everwin Matriculation Higher Secondary
School for ever for its sheer splendour and fanfare.
About 4,000 students of Everwin Matriculation Higher Secondary
School Kolathur had the fun of their lifetime as they
were enthralled by their teachers in the form of cultural programmes.
Normally the students would display their talent through their
creativity, skills and their repertoire of performances.
''For a change 146 teachers of the school took the stage,
catching the students spell bound in the nearly two-hour-long
cultural extravanganza at the school premises'', School Chief Executive Officer V. Mageswari said.
The teachers performed breathtaking and spectacular cultural
programmes like Poikkal Kuthirai, Fashion show, Miss Universe
contest, Fun contest, Bharatha Natyam, Buffoon show, stage
drama among others.
Apart from the students nearly 500 Parents also enjoyed the
entertainment to which the rich costumes added to the splendour.
''Normally on September five Teachers day, the students will
enthrall us. Now it is our turn to keep the students' mind alive
and kicking on Children's day'', Mrs. V. Mageswari said.
This fun-packed programme would also help the teachers to
turn nostalgic, reviving the rivetting memories of their school
days, and share their experiences with the students.
The school management had declared a holiday for the forenoon
session, but it was worth, as students enriched their experience
by knowing about the traditional folk dances like Poikkal Kuthirai
and the rich tradition of Tamil Nadu.
''Since today was their (Children's) day, the school management
thought it fit to reward them and all the 4,000 students went home
with a gift.
At the end of the function, the primary students were presented
with chocolates and sweets, while the standards three to 12 were
given various gifts, ranging from pencil box to geometry box,
depending upon their classes they are studying.
''It's just like a draw of lots. All the students will pick
up from the draw, and whatever is mentioned in it, they took home
with happy memories'', Mrs. V. Mageswari said.
